Is it the End of the World as We Know It?

In our world today we can find the beauty of our earth wherever we look, from walking around the Town Lake to seeing the beaches of Greece on instagram. All around us natural phenomena happens as a result of our environments, climates, and the way of our world. Plants and animals are part of this beauty and majority help maintain it, but what if all of these things disappeared? And what if we could have prevented it? What if we were the ones that caused it?
The climate change debate can go back decades, but in todays world, 2017 America, it is at a peek point in our government. President Trump has expressed multiple times that he is not a believer of global warming and the impact humans have on our environment. Although there are many scientist who believe the same, there a more who believe that humans are damaging the ozone's and the environment, but because there is no consensus in the scientific world, we are left to decide for ourselves. Divided, the country, and the worlds fate rest in the hands in power positions, although, there are many groups who rally around the issue and advocate for environmental regulations. As a whole, we must decide what our world is worth to us, and are we ready to reap the consequences if we chose to do nothing? Is it better to be safe than sorry? Are we prepared to lose the world as we know it?

  1. Well on April 26, 2017, Ashley Underdown wrote an article titled” Is The end of The world As We Know it?”. I pick this post because climate control is something that I also believe has been forgotten by the people not just in the U.S but around the world. Mrs. Underdown made some question that got me thinking of ll the beautiful places that could be affected by the decision President Trump made regarding climate control.
Nevertheless, we can be thankful that President Trump in only in office for four years. Hopefully, the damage to the environment won't be so bad. These could also help President Trump if climate control is not that important as we believe. Moreover, I believe we are about to find out how President Trump decision will impact earth. I also agree with Mrs. Underdown are we ready to pay the price and not do nothing about it. It is the truth that we sound dramatic about global warming and how the earth is going to suffer this decision. Also, like Mrs. Underdown mention the country is a divide when it comes to global warming. Hopefully, the decision President Trump took to eliminate climate control won't affect our planet that much. Also, this could be a wake-up call that climate control is real or maybe is not real. The only thing I can say for now is that we are about to find out.

  2. I am commenting on my colleagues post titled, "Is it End of the World as We Know It?" from the blog "America: Land of the Utterly Confused." I agree with what my colleague is saying that environmental safety and well-being is a very important thing, but personally, I do not think it should be the main priority at this point in time. Now don't get me wrong, I am not undermining the importance of taking care of our environment. Pollution is a problem, we see its effects every day and the way it affects our health and wildlife. However, I do not think President Trump is simply out to destroy the world as so many people seem to put it. I think President Trump has his priorities straight. I too do not believe in the idea of global warming, but I do think its extremely important to take care of the environment. There's just a few problems, when we have North Korea threatening to blow us to pieces, ISIS beheading countless innocent people, and a drug epidemic taking the lives of nearly 40,000 people each year, the environment can wait for a little bit. We are not going to defeat ISIS by spending all of our money to put up solar panels or being involved in the Paris Climate Agreement. With everything that is going on these days, climate change will not be the thing that leads to the end of the world as we know it.
